…but is Sonic headed for another ice berg?
This past few months has been pretty great to be a Sonic fan right? SEGA seems to have got their priorities in check and giving the fans what they want with the upcoming Sonic Mania – even though it has just been pushed back from Spring to Summer, at least it is coming and it looks great! However, there is another. Continue reading
On Sunday we were given a glimpse of the best looking Sonic game since ‘Sonic 3’ – ‘Sonic Mania’ was unveiled to mark the 25th anniversary of Sonic The Hedgehog and boy oh boy, doesn’t it look to be a real return of form for the titular hedgehog!
I AM HYPED!!!!!
The game looks like a ROM hack of ‘Sonic 3 & Knuckles’ (this is a good thing) and features current pixel-art tech and tricks to successfully create a genuinely modern, retro title. It also features re-imagined zones from Sonic, Sonic 2 and Sonic 3 on top of all new zones and bosses. It is hugely exciting – especially since the last good Sonic game was Generations and the last great one was Sonic 3…
…but why has it taken so long for Sonic to get back into the limelight?
What is it that makes 3D Sonic games so bad?
Where did it all go wrong for a gaming phenomenon? Continue reading
It’s been another month gap between this and the last luv-in! I’m totally sorry about that guys; life has been getting the way recently and i’m finding it difficult to spend time writing. It’s shite, but that’s life – when you have a little free time and a family every spare minute is spent with them!
But it’s back now! Let’s make sure that there is not another month gap! Lets keep up that writing quality and I’ll keep linking! As always if you have read a good post this week link us to it in the comment section!
Lets get down to business though, here’s what I’ve read over the past week! Continue reading
In the last installment I outlined the purchases I have recently made for my SEGA Dreamcast. That post was only half the story however – there is still quite a bit to cover, many of these purchases I am very proud of as they were absolute bargains.
I’m not gonna bore you with a long intro – let’s get to the games! Again all prices include P&P.
Space Channel 5 (complete in box) – £2.42
This is a well-known, if under-appreciated, gem in the Dreamcast library – and another I never owned first time round! From a time when SEGA were taking massive risks; and it is quite uncommon. Finding it in the condition I did (like new) is incredibly hard at a good price; I was lucky enough to get this at the ridiculous price I got it for. I only wish it wasn’t so difficult – the action rhythm dancing action is made tough by the absence of any on-screen prompts! It’s a test of memory and reactions and I LOVE it! Continue reading
Launch titles on new consoles need to do two distinct jobs:
- Look utterly amazing – they must look better than any game on the market
- Be fun while simultaneously giving gamers a taste of what the new console is all about
For my money ‘Sonic Adventure’ is the ultimate launch title! So it is fitting that my Dreamcast retrospective series would visit this little diamond. Continue reading
It’s around this time of year that gaming websites around the planet lose their collective minds and start speculating about what they will see at the annual E3 conference. Their hopes and expectations meld with their common sense, overpowering it with child-like whimsy and this leads to an influx of optimistic and entirely implausible tweets and Facebook status’!
Inevitably this leads to a case of severe disappointment and reactionary social media updates that declare E3 the “worst one yet”; because reality cannot match to the infinite power of the human imagination.
You’ll be glad to know dear reader that LuvvaLuvva Towers recently got an anti-hype extension and we are now above such petty speculation and hope mongering. We are now able to control and curb of fanboyism and imagination…
…in saying that we do have an E3 insider who has given us top-secret information about reveals and we are gonna share them with you – well not all of them, just the ones that have us excited more than ever for E3! Continue reading
In my Liebster post (go read it, interesting facts ahoy!) one of GameIntrospections questions was;
Pick a popular franchise and wipe it from the public consciousness, which would it be? Gaming or not.
And my answer was simply;
Infamous – the most bland of all the franchises in Sony’s arsenal; bland, boring and consistently sells millions. Who enjoys this shit?
But something has occurred since I wrote that answer and I’m asking for a do-over, because guys, I’ve had a revelation. I’m not going to bore you with my revelation in writing; it would seem like a rant and may turn some of you off this post, and that is not my intention. So here is frustrated Luvva, from last nights stream, telling the world his thoughts on ‘Far Cry 4’. Enjoy.
