Since MrJohnSherry has picked his game of the year it is only fitting that I take the time to pick mine!
If you read my recap of the year (part 1, part 2, part 3 & part 4) then you’ll know that 2016 was actually a really good year for games and absolutely full of top rated games from beginning to end, which made picking my top 3 games really difficult. However I feel that my list truly reflects the quality of 2016 if not the diversity that it provided.
The rules are the same as they always are:
1) I must have played the game.
2) Must have been released (in its entirety) between 01/01/16-31/12/16.
3) Cannot be a straight HD remake.

In our last post we looked at the games that had been released in Quarter 1 2016 and were pleasantly surprised by the sheer volume of stuff (so much so that I had written far too much and had to split the article) that had been put out there.
Quarter 2 was more of the same, but with a dramatic increase in the quality of the software. In Q2 we see a few incredibly high quality games and one all-time classic (I wonder what it is!)!

Every year I make sure that I have kept a game or two to play through my two weeks off over Christmas – every year I do the same thing, buy too many games and struggle to fit them all into my schedule then eventually get round to them over the holidays.
This year is absolutely no different and I have a few games that I am going to be playing – before I begin with my list though, it is important to add that I have asked MrsLuvva for ‘Watch_Dogs 2’ and as we speak there is a very “blu ray” shaped present under the tree; so I’m not going to be adding that to the list, because it could very well be something that’s not ‘Watch_dogs’!

Recently I have started getting back into Overwatch pretty exclusively! Spent a lot of time but not in my usual role. To be fair, I took about a 2 month break (I am still not even at competitive level yet!) so when I came back, I was a bit pants at using the likes of Tracer compared to how I used to be! Gaming is great, hell it’s better than that – its awesome!
And yet it’s been nearly three years since the release of the PS4 and Xbox One and aside from the odd exclusive here and there at the end of 2015 it really felt like this generation was yet to begin. The manufacturers promised that this year would be the one to finally kickstart it though, and now that it is July; officially halfway through the year, there is no better time to look at my own gaming this year and decide whether or not this is true!
