Well that is that, 2017 has come and gone and so too has my Backlog Blitz – whilst it was tough going in some months, I think that I have been fallen well short of completing 52 games in one calendar year – I have certainly completed more games in 2017 than I have in a very long time. So, in a sense 2017 was successful year.

…well, it’s just like, my opinion – man.

Well, here we are ladies and gentlemen – the cusp of yet another New Year. I personally hate New Year, a lot of preparation to end up in a pub full to the rafters and waiting 25 minutes to get a drink that is severely overpriced. Not for me, but it does allow me the chance to share with you all my personal game of the year choices! As always, I will do a top 3, with some honorable mentions – so shall we see what I have chosen this year? Let’s do this!

Backlog Blitz: November 2017

We’re well into the last month of the year and failure is staring me right in the face; unless I had a stellar month and completed AT LEAST two games a week it seems inevitable!

What is this Backlog Blitz all about? Well – it’s a challenge I set myself and here’s the rules for those of you with short-term memory issues (you poor bastards):

• I must complete 52 games in 2017
• The games can be ones that I have previously started or have previously completed and they can be on any platform
• Episodic games count as one game per episode
• Lengthy DLC (ie Blood & Wine) counts as a game
• Every time I complete a game I score +1
• Every time I buy a game I score -2
• By the end of the year I must finish with a positive score or I have failed the Backlog Blitz

The NPD have released the chart for the month of March and it makes for some very interesting reading indeed!

For those who aren’t regular readers; this year I’m tackling my humongous backlog of games. With the simple of target of completing (at least) 52; currently I am sitting at a grand total of 3 games completed, just slightly more than one a month.

Surely March would be a better month for me and my backlog blitz?

Horizon Zero Dawn has sold an incredible 2.6 million copies in its first two weeks on sale. This figure makes it the best-selling first-party new IP for the PS4 as well as Guerrilla’s best ever launch.

No worries though loyal readers, this will be spoiler free of my first 11 hours within the game.So, as you all know I got the game late, had to wait until last Saturday for the game to arrive!
