…well, it’s just like, my opinion – man.
Well, here we are ladies and gentlemen – the cusp of yet another New Year. I personally hate New Year, a lot of preparation to end up in a pub full to the rafters and waiting 25 minutes to get a drink that is severely overpriced. Not for me, but it does allow me the chance to share with you all my personal game of the year choices! As always, I will do a top 3, with some honorable mentions – so shall we see what I have chosen this year? Let’s do this!
**I will keep it spoiler free!** Continue reading
Even though 2017 was a pretty poor year for blog output (especially the second half of the year) it was an absolute stormer in terms of me playing games! Unfortunately for me and my Game of the Year, most (if not all) of these games were released too early to be considered for the title!
When I look back at those games that have stuck in my head, there is a real variety in genres, tones and content! It really is an embarrassment of riches at the moment, gaming feels like it is going through a golden era; I am confident that in a few years we’ll all look back at 2017 with the same love that we do 2007!
Here’s the games that stick out in my mind, the games that made my 2017 absolutely amazing! Continue reading
The big day has com and gone! You’ve opened your presents (hopefully you all got what your heart desired) and you’ve given those you care for their presents too (hopefully you forgot no-one!) the Holiday spirit should be well and truly in you now! Continue reading
MrJohnSherry and I would like to extend to you all a very Merry Christmas.
Christmas just keeps getting closer and closer! It’s down to the last few days here and it is getting real; that means that we have to up the ante with our choices and start bringing those christmas bangers thick and fast – today’s choice is just that! Continue reading
As regular readers are more than aware of by now, I hold back a few games each year in order to play through them over my Christmas holidays (being a teacher has its benefits – namely a 2 week break over Christmas). Sometimes I hold back these games purposefully because they are part of a franchise that I associate with Christmas (like Tomb Raider), and others just happen to be pushed into the backlog because I buy too many games and complete too few!
This year is no different; I have a list of games the length of my arm and choices are going to have to be made this Christmas. I am expecting to have a few family nights this year so – for perhaps the first time ever, my list is dominated with multiplayer games that I plan on enjoying with those nearest and dearest to me (the true meaning of Christmas gaming)! Let’s keep the festivities going in MrJohnSherry’s absence!
Today’s musical offering comes from a game I’ve been playing quite a bit of recently; the escapists – this track is from the ‘Santa’s Workshop’ seasonal DLC. Continue reading
We’re well into the last month of the year and failure is staring me right in the face; unless I had a stellar month and completed AT LEAST two games a week it seems inevitable!
What is this Backlog Blitz all about? Well – it’s a challenge I set myself and here’s the rules for those of you with short-term memory issues (you poor bastards):
- I must complete 52 games in 2017
- The games can be ones that I have previously started or have previously completed and they can be on any platform
- Episodic games count as one game per episode
- Lengthy DLC (ie Blood & Wine) counts as a game
- Every time I complete a game I score +1
- Every time I buy a game I score -2
- By the end of the year I must finish with a positive score or I have failed the Backlog Blitz
Year Score (so far) = -20
How’d November go? Read on dear reader! Continue reading
It’s that time of year again; we’re all busy beavers trying to ascertain what our loved ones would like for the big day without giving the game away completely, doing the shopping, getting caught in traffic and generally being happy with being made miserable!
The most wonderful time of year indeed! Continue reading
I’m finally getting round to catching up on my post backlog (let alone making a dent in my game backlog))!
October continued the rich vein of form I had of completing games that started in September – I absolutely hammered a number of horror games in anticipation of Hallowe’en.
