Ubisoft’ has found itself in a bit of hot water today when it’s For Honor season 3 tournament was won by a player abusing an exploit for the duration of the competition.
The exploit in question is called the “unlock tech” and it basically makes a players attacks unparryable. It is an exploit exclusive to Nobushi players and as a result they are handed a competitive edge over everyone else.
Essentially this exploit makes every attack land and there is nothing your opponent can do about it.
Tournament winner SB.Alernakin made use of the exploit in every single game he played. In fact he was so successful with it, he did not lose a single round – easing to a tournament win and the $10,000 price money.
What makes this whole situation worse is that Ubisoft are fully aware of this exploit and have been for months! In a developer update in May (May!) they stated that;
“There are a number of situations where unlocking during an attack can cause it to become un-parryable by the opponent. Across the game, we’re currently working to remove this unintended behavior”
And when they gave SB.Alernakin his trophy they told him that;
“Soon you may have to change your playstyle”
I find it absolutely mental that a tournament could be won through exploit abuse!
Unbelievable from Ubisoft! There are many things they could have combatted this practice (like patching it out) but instead they have rewarded cheating!
