Metroid 2 remake has Hard difficulty locked behind amiibo

In yet another blatant anti-consumer move Nintendo has confirmed that the hard mode (imaginatively called ‘Fusion Mode’) will be only unlocked by the metroid amiibo (and completing the game once). In an interview with Eurogamer a Nintendo representative stated that;

“There was initially some uncertainty as to whether this would be an amiibo exclusive. In a statement provided to Eurogamer, Nintendo offered an official confirmation. The company said that “this unlockable content is only unlocked using amiibo”.

This is the latest in a long line of anti-consumer moves that Nintendo has been getting away with for some time now. It also follows their controversial locking of Zelda: Breath if the Wild’s hardmode as part of the season pass.

This means that the hard mode will cost you £12 if you have a N3DS and £30 if you have an OG model (factoring in the NFC reader peripheral!

Unbelievable form from Ninty.
