Nintendo discontinue the NES Classic Mini worldwide

Today it was confirmed by Eurogamer that not only has Nintendo discontinued the NES Mini in North America and Japan but they have also discontinued it here in Europe too! That means the device has been officially discontinued worldwide after only 6 months on sale.

This is awful news for those of us amongst us who wanted to buy one but now can’t!

To make matters worse I didn’t see one in the wild – not a single unit on a shop shelf anywhere!

To compound the abject failure with which Nintendo handled this great piece of hardware; the scampers are now set to profit off this. A quick search shows that CEX are selling these for £190, four times the RRP! On eBay things are not much better with units selling for between £120 and £450(!!).

Nintendo really screwed the pooch with this machine and done themselves out of a very, very healthy profit!
