Resident Evil 2 HD Remake – How should they do it?

The other day I had written a post that outline the reasons why we would never see a ‘Resident Evil 2 HD’ – a fine post with well-reasoned arguments, it all made complete sense to me and I was convinced that there was more chance of seeing Sasquatch as there was this game.

The very next day on their Facebook page Resident Evil posted this (sorry for the formatting, for some reason I cannot embed the status).

Hello Resident Evil fans!
This is Capcom R&D Division 1!

First off, we would like to express our deepest appreciation to all Resident Evil fans, for your passion, enthusiasm and continued support for the Resident Evil brand.

Enthusiasm for a Resident Evil 2 Remake is something we’ve been hearing from you over the years, and has drawn some recent attention in the media.

However, as the team owns the RE brand, we’re not certain how we feel about this approach, and would like to ask your honest and frank opinion about the “Resident Evil 2 Remake” and what the brand identity is supposed to be about?

Now I have no idea how legit this Facebook profile is, but it looks legit! And holy shit, it seems as though Capcom are considering remaking ‘Resident Evil 2’! This is glorious news. And since they’re asking the fans what they want to see I’m gonna tell them, here’s a recipe for my perfect RE2 HD Remake.

Resident Evil Zero HD – The Bad News

Last week I reviewed the least famous entry in the Resident Evil series (but still superb); this was prompted by a recent play-through and the news that ‘Resident Evil Zero’ is getting a beautiful looking HD remaster early next year. This got all us Resi fans foaming at the mouth, all over the internet we had fans proclaiming that because Capcom are remaking this; oft-forgotten and oft-derided, entry surely it is only a matter of time before they move on to the big one!

The remake the world has been crying for 10-odd years.

‘Resident Evil 2’.

Still infinitely playable, still brilliant!

Resident Evil Zero: A Retro Review

With the recent announcement of ‘Resident Evil Zero HD Remaster’ there is a lot of buzz around the Nintendo Gamecube Exclusive entry into the legendary Resident Evil franchise.

A buzz that has not existed around the title since September 2000 when the game was unveiled at the Tokyo game show.

I recently revisited the title on stream as I started my Resident Evil “maREathon” in which I play through zero to six in chronological order.

Was it a game that deserves a remake or is it best left to the annuls of gaming history? Continue reading

MrLuvva’s Luv-In #14

Week 14 (although in reality we should be up to; at least 17) of my roundup of great reads! As I said last week, I want to make this more regular than it has been and I apologise for the lack of regular material here (having a newborn is a full-time job!)!

As a way of apologising I have given you a two (2!) podcasts, so you can rest your read holes (eyes) and relax with your hear holes (ears)!

I love you all! As always, make sure you click the links and support these fine writers! Continue reading

The Dreamcast Diaries: Sonic Adventure

Launch titles on new consoles need to do two distinct jobs:

  1. Look utterly amazing – they must look better than any game on the market
  2. Be fun while simultaneously giving gamers a taste of what the new console is all about

For my money ‘Sonic Adventure’ is the ultimate launch title! So it is fitting that my Dreamcast retrospective series would visit this little diamond. Continue reading

MrLuvva’s Luv-In #13

It’s back baby!

After a notable absence my weekly recap of others blog posts makes a welcome return (who’d have thought a new-born would take up so much time?). I have fallen behind in my posting schedule and despite his best efforts; not even MrJohnSherry could keep us on track for long!

Here we are though! Back, and with a cracking set of 7 posts you may have missed this week! I hope you enjoy these posts as much as I have; and remember to click each link and give the blogs to which they belong some love! I know it’s always appreciated!

And with that I make a promise to get back to a much more regular schedule of posts! Hope you all had a good week…to the post links! Continue reading

The Dreamcast Diaries: Shenmue 2

The Dreamcast diaries is a series in which I examine my catalogue of games that helped make SEGA’s opus the best console of all time.

My last entry into the series proved to be crazy popular, there was a buzz on the ‘Shenmue’ kickstarter page and in other corners of the internet, it was great to see people talk about the game that I loved with the same affection as I have for it!

Continuing on my journey there is really only one place to stop at next, the continuation of Ryo Hazuki’s (it is not a sequel!) quest for vengeance; ‘Shenmue 2’.
