Top 3 Police Games

….You have the right to remain fun!

Seeing as ‘Battlefield: Hardline’ got released this past week (and it is a damn lot of fun!) I thought it would only be fitting for us to go through the history of video games, and for I to pick my top 3 games in which you get play the good guy!

So without further ado, let’s get right into it!

3) Future Cop : L.A.P.D ( Playstation, PC)

Future Cop was a third person shooter, where not only did you get to play an officer of the law, oh no; that would be too….safe. So, how about, playing the good guy, IN A FREAKING MECH! That’s right, do not adjust your eyes ladies and gents, you were a freaking mech! Set in the future so they obviously seemed not out-of-place (after all, when has entertainment ever lied to us? I love my hover board! (Cheers Marty!)

So, seeing as you were in a mech, you could customise it to set your needs! From Mini Guns to Hyper-Velocity Rockets, this was really a good way to bring criminals to justice – or put blow them to smithereens! The choice was yours!

2) LA Noire ( Playstation 3, Xbox 360, PC)

La Noire

Set in a 1940’s Los Angeles, LA Noire puts the player in charge as Officer Phelps as he goes around LA trying to uncover evidence to many crimes. The best part, it took inspiration from real life crimes, so the authenticity was absolutely top-notch! (not that I would expect any less from Rockstar Studios).

LA Noire introduced; quite possibly, the best face animations ever seen in a video game, with characters reacting to your questions, so you could tell if they were lying – and if you were wrong, well – you would just have to live with those consequences won’t you?

1) Max Payne (Playstation 2, Xbox, PC)

Ahh; where do I even start with Max Payne? Set within the main protagonist (Max, obviously) we go on a mind bending journey with a fugitive New York cop, who has all to gain and nothing to lose after his wife and daughter are brutally murdered by a couple of down and out junkies.

Max sets upon a mission of revenge to bring the culprits to justice, but with the little help from a few pills. Using the pills you could alter the speed of time (ala The Matrix) and blast criminals down as Max tries to uncover the truth behind what happened that faithful night!

MrLuvvaLuvva’s honourable mention:

S.W.A.T 4 (PC)

Forget Mechs, forget bullet-time, hell forget everything that isn’t brutually realistic! S.W.A.T 4 is, for me, the best cop simulator ever!

Think back to the original series of ‘Rainbow 6’ now take out the special forces and replace it with an L.A Special Weapons and Tactics units (is it just me or is LA in every one of these games?) and you know what ‘SWAT 4’ is!

Non-lethal resolutions to hostage situations, bomb situations and other cop themed scenarios are the order of the day. You’ll spend more time planning your perfect crime busting plan and have full control if it goes wrong, S.W.A.T 4 was awesome!

Play it if you haven’t already!

What’s your favourite cop game ever?

Are you enjoying ‘Battlefied: Hardline’ like MrJohnSherry is?

  1. Wow, I wouldn’t have thought that anybody else knows Future Cop: L.A.P.D. I thought it’s one of those games that I had for some random reason as a kid and that nobody else ever played *g* I really liked that game, especially because you could play it in Coop! Always played together with my brother, although I think we never made it very far in the game hehe.

    • Same in our house me and sherry played the crap out of it! It was originally meant to be a part of the Strike series (future strike) but after soviet and nuclear were unpopular they dropped the title!

It was a great game, hard as hell lol!

    • This is potentially the best comment on this blog! LOL! Outstanding work sir!

Ironically I know what you mean, I loved the game for the facial animation – really added to the experience! I hope the can evolve it so the characters don’t have to look like the actors playing them!
